Canvas Studio provides a way for students to upload video content as an assignment submission directly to a Canvas assignment. Videos uploaded via Canvas Studio do not have a file size limit, and present themselves with a playable view in the speedgrader interface.

Note: Canvas Studio integrates using the file upload submission option in assignments. If you are expecting a video submission, you will need to make it clear to students that they need to click the Canvas Studio option when submitting their video or their upload will likely fail. An example of what the submission page looks like is at the end of this article.

1. Log in to Canvas and navigate to your course
2. From the Modules page, click the + icon in the module where you want to add the assignment
   
3. From the Add dialog box, make sure Assignment is selected in the drop down menu, then select [create assignment].
   
4. Give your assignment a name in the Assignment name field, then select Add item
5. Click the link to your newly created assignment
   
6. In the upper right corner, select Edit
   
7. In the description box at the top of the page type in your assignment prompt. This is a good place to include a statement that you are expecting a video submission and to use Canvas Studio when uploading their assignment.
8. Under Submission Type, select Online and mark the File uploads checkbox
   

   Important note: While it may be tempting to select Media recordings, this is NOT the same as Canvas Studio and uses another feature of Canvas that does not work as well. DO NOT check the media recordings checkbox for this type of assignment.

9. Finish setting up your assignment as you normally would, including the point value and the open and close dates.
10. Select Save and Publish

Students will need to make sure they click on the Canvas Studio button when they make their submission.
