Opening a File
Step One
From within an application, click on the File menu, then click the Open menu item (as you normally would)
Step Two
Double-click on the disk labeled Local Disk (C: on <computer name>) where <computer name> is the name of the computer you are using
In SPSS the dialog box does not contain a Computer icon, instead look for the Look in pull-down menu at the top of the Open dialog box
Step Three
Browse to the desired file on your computer. Click the Open button.
Saving a File
Step One
From within an application, click on the File menu, then click the Save menu item (as you normally would)
Step Two
Click to expand the Save in pull-down menu
Step Three
Double-click on the disk labeled Local Disk (C: on) where is the name of the computer you are using
Step Four
Browse to the desired folder on your computer. Click the Save button.

These instructions are only for SPSS, and the methods for accessing files differs among applications. For instance, in ArcGIS Pro, you will not see your local client-side drive and have to use \\Client\C$\ or something (maybe \\Client\H$\ or //Client/H$/ on a Mac) to find your local computer.
