Alternative (alt) text is the caption that displays when a user hovers over the image or a screen reader scans your site. We use alternative text to help users who may rely on a screen reader to access your site to ensure that they still get the same information that someone who does not rely on a screen reader does. Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) requires all images to contain alt text as part of the Drupal accessibility check.
Adding Alternative Text:
- Click in the Image icon (a square with a picture of a house)
If you already have an image on the page, select the image and then click on the Image icon or double click your image to open to image properties.
- Add your alternative text to the image. Just like links, please make sure that the text is descriptive enough for your user.
- Click the “OK” button and Save the page when you are done.
