Mediasite works differently in Canvas than it does in iLearn. Videos (or other content) cannot be added directly on a module or be accessed by students from the left-side navigation menu.
Instead, this guide will demonstrate how to create a Page in Canvas, then add the Mediasite content to that page for students to access.
To create a Page and add Mediasite content to it:
- Navigate to your course in Canvas.
From the left side course navigation menu, select Pages.
Select the + Page button.
Enter a Page Title (we suggest using the title of the Mediasite content).
In the rich text editor, select the Mediasite button
- If you are uploading a brand new video, select the Upload button. If you are re-using a video that was already uploaded to Mediasite, either because it was recorded in a Coursestream-equipped classroom or you are reusing content from a previous semester, select Presentation.
Select the Add to *name of your course* button to the right of your Mediasite content
Choose either Presentation Link (this will input a URL link to your content on the page) or Player Only (this will input a video player that allows students to watch your content directly on the Page).
Click Save & Publish.
Note: Only selecting the Save option will not publish the Page, which means students will not be able to access it
You can now add this page to a module or students can access it by clicking on Pages from the navigation menu in your course.
