How to make roll call count less

We are keeping track of attendance, but it is counted as "out of 100" – and this is more than all other grades are worth. 
If I change the "out of" value, it doesn't change the grades in the gradebook. 

Also if I click: "Do not count this assignment towards the final grade" the checkmark disappears when I save.
