Canvas has a question type called Multiple Dropdowns that is similar to the CLOZE question type that has multiple choice answers.

While Canvas supports importing quizzes, it does not support doing so from a plain text file of any kind like iLearn does. Importing quizzes requires a QTI .zip file that a few common quiz management software packages produce, but that SF State does not have a license for, such as Respondus.

Thank you for the response.  It sounds like Multiple Dropdowns does not perform text matching  (i.e. matching student input text for key terms etc.)?  This is one of the outstanding features of the CLOZE question type and is necessary in a large number of my quizzes.

I'm also worried about the sound of uploading via these tools (especially since we don't have licenses for them).  At the moment, I upload hundreds of vocabulary questions via text import, produced by excel spreadsheets of vocabulary lists... it is hardly practical to enter each of these by hand.  Do you have any suggestions of a viable work-around?

There's also a multiple text box entry option as well, so both multiple choice and direct text entry are supported.

If your questions come from excel, I've seen examples from other institutions of using a macro in Excel to convert to the appropriate QTI format that Canvas can use, but I have not personally tested these myself. It'll be something to explore as we get deeper into the project.

Oh that's wonderful.  Do let me know if I can help to work on/with those Macros for testing or helping!  Thank you!
