vendor help with the transition?
AnsweredAT support told me a month ago that there will be a vendor to help with the course transition from iLearn to Canvas. Will the course display in Canvas be more organized if it is done by the vendor compared to I import the course by following the manual importing content procedure listed here? https://athelp.sfsu.edu/hc/en-us/articles/5690090704915-Manually-importing-content-from-iLearn-to-Canvas? In other words, what are the differences between a vendor importing the course versus an instructor importing the course by following the procedure listed above?
Can you also let me know how to request a vendor to import the courses? Thanks.

The difference between the vendor moved courses and the built-in import is mainly around what happens with items that aren’t fully supported by Canvas. For everything else it’s basically identical.
We just got the last test batch of courses last week, so assuming there’s no major issues, the vendor should start converting courses in the next couple of weeks. There’s no need to request anything, every course with content in it in iLearn will be converted.

Once we verify the results of the test it will be a couple of weeks. I will mention, though, that the concept of lesson isn’t supported by canvas. The vendor converts lessons into a module with multiple pages. You’ll still need to figure out how you want to handle that if you used the quizzing functionality.

It’s less of a procedure and more a vague process to follow. What they’re essentially doing is copying and pasting the content pages out of the lesson tool and into a page resource in Canvas. They’re doing this programmatically, but that’s essentially the basic process.
If you’ve gone through the “Growing with Canvas” course in canvas, that’s more or less what the end result ends up being.
