To add students, go to your course and click on People in the navigation on the left. Click +People to bring up the box to add someone. You’ll need to add them using their sfsu email address.

As for hiding grades until a specific date, that’s not possible automatically. Canvas’ philosophy around grades is that students should always be aware of every grade they get in a course. As such, a lot of the way that grading works operates under the assumption that by default, students can see everything. You can change this behavior in the grade book (Grades link in the course navigation on the left) but the toggle is between automatic posting and manually posting where you would have to manually release the grades later.

    Hi Cristian,

Thanks for your quick reply. Got the adding/enrolling students bit.

For the grades--I don't want to hide the grades til a specific date. I want to know what feedback students will get for a quiz--in ilearn we were able to show the points for each question but not the right/wrong answer until after everyone finished the quiz. In i-learn there were many quiz settings that could be manipulated (shuffling questions and answers for example) and I was just wondering whether that is similar in canvas. Thanks for any help with how to set up quizzes in canvas for immediate grade feedback but delayed specific question feedback. Thank you.

Gotcha. The Canvas feedback options are not as flexible. It comes down to two things, show feedback or not, show correct answers or not, though I will say that at least for correct answers it also gives you a date range, so you can choose to show correct answers on a specific date and then revoke access later.

There is a new quiz module coming for canvas, but on the advice of some of the other campuses that have been on canvas for longer, we’re delaying activating new quizzes until some of the more serious bugs are worked out.

That's great--thank you! I'm sure I will learn more about it once I get into setting up the quizzes. Many thanks.I don't want to revoke access to correct answers--I just want to show the correct answers on a specific date (after everyone has taken it). That helps a lot.
