PollEverywhere is a participant response system that allows instructors to poll student participants and display results during a live class session. Question types include multiple choice, fill in the blank, and many others.
Note: This guide is intended to be a quick start from creating your account to presenting your first session. While this guides you through creating your first session, this is not the most efficient way to set up your activities after you've created your account.
Activating your account
Before an instructor can use PollEverywhere they must set up an account.
- Go to https://polleverywhere.com
- Select Log in in the upper right corner
- Fill in your SF State Email and click Next
Note: It is extremely important that you use your SF State Email or you will not gain access to the full version of PollEverywhere nor will you be able to connect your Canvas course
- Log in with your SF State credentials
Create an activity
Polling sessions are called Activities in PollEverywhere. An activity can contain multiple questions and multiple activities can be active during a single session. Note that you will want to prepare your activities ahead of your class session or presentation.
- After logging in, select +Activity on the PollEverywhere dashboard.
- Select the type of question you want to ask for this activity. If you want to have more than one question, use the Survey type.
- When you are finished creating your activity, select Create
- On the right, fill in your options for how you would like participants to reply to this activity
- When this activity is ready to go, select Activate
Conducting a session
When you're ready to present, select the Present button at the top. PollEverywhere will go full screen. Participants can join by scanning the QR code shown at the top of the screen or by navigating to the URL shown at the top of the screen from their computer or mobile device.
