Adobe Express is an online tool that allows users to easily create visual media using pre-designed templates and design assets. Users can create posters, presentations, fliers, videos, newsletters, resumes, and more within minutes, and without needing design skills or having to use complicated software.
Accessing Adobe Express
1. Access Adobe Express online at https://express.adobe.com
2. Sign-in using your SF State email address and password
Creating a new document
There are multiple ways to select a pre-designed template to edit, or start from a blank document by following one of the steps below (without selecting a theme).
A. Use the Search box at the top of the screen to search for a specific theme (i.e. "graduation", "biology", or "teaching")
B. Use the blue circle + icon, located at the left of the screen, to view a list of document sizes for specific uses (i.e. Instagram 1:1, PowerPoint 16:9)
C. Browse themes by selecting your document type (i.e. flyer, poster, slide deck)
Design assets for editing content
Locate the vertical panel to the left of the page. This panel contains several buttons to add different types of content.
Select a button in the list to view all options. An option panel will appear to the right of the button where adjustments can be made to the design.
- Search - search for templates or design assets, such as photos, icons, shapes, videos, or audio
- Your Stuff - view all of your Adobe Express projects
- Upload - upload assets from your device, such as photos, to incorporate into your design
- Templates - browse and select new templates

Media - search all of Adobe's addets, including photos, video, and audio
- There is also a feature to use AI to generate new design assets
- Text (shown above) - browse the various text style and select text to add to the design
- Elements - contains additional design assets, including backgrounds, shapes, icons, and charts
Changing design properties
Located the top panel, above the design, which has several more features and icons.
Select a button in the top panel to reveal options. The option panel will appear to the left of the page.
- Resize - change the size of the current design
- Theme (shown above) - contains color themes; quickly change colors used in the design by selecting a theme
- Background color - select a solid color as the design background
- Margins - toggle to have margins and bleed lines visible; this is helpful for print designs
- Align - select multiple objects and align
- Translate - a built-in translator for written content
- View options - change the zoom or view of the design
- Pages - access pages of a multi-page design
- Delete - delete pages from the design
- Add - add pages to the design
Sharing, collaboration, and export
There are several options available for sharing and exporting designs. Work collaboratively with other users or easily share content from Express. Locate the icons in the black bar at the top-right of the screen.
- Undo/redo - two directional arrows represent the undo and redo commands
- Invite - add other users to work collaboratively or allow them to review the design
- Learn - need help? This option provides how-tos and inspiration for getting started with a design
- Comment - allows invited users to leave comments
- Submit Feedback - quick link to share ideas or join a social media community for Adobe Express
- Download - select desired file format and download the design onto your local device
- Share - share work as a template or share work on cloud storage, such as OneDrive or Google Drive
