Breakout rooms in Zoom allow a meeting host to break a meeting into smaller sub-groups for group based activities. Conceptually, this is similar to breaking into small groups in a classroom where everyone goes to separate corners of the room with their group members and the teacher can float between the groups to answer questions as the session progresses. At the end of the group work session, the host can then call students back to the main room.
