Note: Your Canvas profile is visible to anyone in any courses you are enrolled in or teaching. Make sure you only include relevant and appropriate information in your profile that you are willing to share with the campus community.

Add a profile picture
- Log in to Canvas by going to https://canvas.sfsu.edu and selecting the login button
- Select Account in the global navigation on the left
- Select Profile
- Select Edit profile
- Select the current profile picture
- Drag and drop a picture from your computer into the box. Alternatively, select take a picture to open your device's camera to take a picture instead.
- Adjust the circle in the picture to frame the portion you wish to use as your profile. If using a picture of yourself, use the circle to frame your face
- Select Save to save the picture
- Select Save Profile
Add a bio and links
- Log in to Canvas by going to https://canvas.sfsu.edu and selecting the login button
- Select Account in the global navigation on the left
- Select Profile
- Select Edit profile
- Type your bio statement in the Biography box
- Add any related links in the Links section
- Select Save Profile
Set your preferred pronouns
Canvas allows setting of preferred pronouns. Pronouns show up in multiple places within the Canvas environment itself, such as participant lists, discussions, and assignment submissions. However, pronouns are not shared with third party tools, such as Turnitin, and will not be displayed there.
- Log in to Canvas by going to https://canvas.sfsu.edu and selecting the login button
- Select Account in the global navigation on the left
- Select Settings
- At the very bottom of the settings page, select Edit Settings
- Select your preferred pronouns from the Pronouns drop down menu
- Select Update Settings
