Canvas studio includes a web-based video editor, providing the ability to trim video, cut out segments, and make minor timing adjustments.
Note: The built-in video editor is best suited for quick edits, especially for videos recorded directly into Canvas Studio itself. People with more complex editing needs should use traditional video editing software before uploading the video to Canvas studio instead.
- Navigate to Canvas Studio in the global navigation bar of Canvas
- From the three dots menu of the video you want to edit, select Edit media
- Once you are done performing your edits, select Save in the bottom corner. A more detailed explanation of the two available editing options continues below.
The video editor interface has the video at the top, a timeline of the video below, and a row of action buttons at the bottom.
Cut
The cut button is used when you want to cut a segment out of the middle of a video. Pressing Cut will open a box on the timeline at your current position in the video with two drag handles. Drag the handles to select the portion of the video you want to cut, shown in red. Once you are sure you want to cut that segment, select Confirm cut at the bottom right corner.
Trim
The trim button is used when you want to trim either the beginning or the end of the video. This is useful when you want to remove the awkward first couple of seconds of the video when you've just hit the record button or to cut off the end of the video when you're hitting the stop button. Similar to cut, pressing the Trim button will highlight a portion of the video with two handles, one at the beginning and one at the end. The portion highlighted in red is what will be trimmed from the video. Once you are sure you want to trim that segment of the video, select Confirm trim in the bottom right corner.
